Sesame Street New Season: Math and Science focus

I have to admit that when I was a kid, I adored Sesame Street. Well, I still do. Sesame
Street was a fun and educational show that I could easily watch in the morning or
in the afternoon (tv time was dependent on my school schedule). Back then, it was
NORMAL to be bilingual. The kids of our generation spoke --- and can speak ---
English and Filipino; thanks in part to The Muppets. And yes, we didn't make a big
deal out of it. It was what it was.

So, if Sesame Street can teach the kids of today English and Math and Science, then
I'm all for it!

p.s.
M is still not allowed to watch tv. We're still holding out for when he hits 2 yrs old.
By then, we will definitely stick to a few select tv shows. Of course, Sesame Street
will be on the list.

Lego Engineering

I am "math-challenged".

Not in a real world sense ---
I am pretty good at working the spreadsheet to submit my reports.
But in an academic point of view ---
I will suck at mental math even if my life depended on it.

This explains my semi-obsession with making sure that my kid/s
turn out to be a better version of me.

Lego Engineering seems like a cool way to teach math and science
to kids. Yes, you read that right. And yes, I kid you not.

If you're a skeptic, scoot over to the 30min mark. It just might make
you jump over to the beginning of the presentation.

A Peek at Singapore Math

Recently, I dropped by my High School Alma Mater to get some papers.
I casually asked when the school would start teaching Singapore Math.
The Competitors have already started teaching it! Take note, Singapore
Math is something that can be taught in school or at home. hmm hmm
hmm.

Singapore Math is one thing I hope to teach M one day. What has caught
me off guard is the fact that "one day" is fast approaching. I really have
to be more disciplined about setting aside time for M's learning program!!!
